Analysis on the Export Output of Pigment in China in 2011

According to the seventh general meeting of the Dye Industry Association held on September 6-7, the economic operation of the pigment dyeing industry in the first half of this year was not very satisfactory, and the production of dyed pigments showed a slow growth trend. The output of some large enterprises remained unchanged. Positive growth, but the production of SMEs has dropped sharply; the year-on-year negative growth in the export of dyed pigments is rare. In the second half of this year, the overall situation of the dyeing industry is still not optimistic, and the difficulties encountered may be even more.

In the January-June period, the export of dyed pigments decreased by a different rate compared to the same period last year. Among them, the export of dyes was 129,000 tons, down 6.2% year-on-year; foreign exchange earned through exports was 630 million US dollars, up 7.8% year-on-year. The reason for the decrease in exports and the increase in export earnings is mainly related to inflation in China. Organic pigments are almost the same as those of dyes. Exports from January to June are also negative year-on-year.

From the perspective of export categories, except for the positive growth of disperse dyes, acid dyes, direct dyes, and vat dyes, other categories are basically negative. Among them, the export volume of reactive dyes and dyestuffs was the most affected. The export volume of active dyes in the first half of the year decreased by 30.8% year-on-year, and the dyestuffs decreased by 20.7%. In addition, the export volume of basic dyes and reducing indigo also declined.

Judging from the major export destinations of dye pigments in our country, there are more negative growth in export volume. For example, exports to South Korea fell by 3.3%, Pakistan by 4%, Thailand by 5.1%, Bangladesh by 4.9%, and Brazil by 16.7%.
