India's next generation lunar exploration aircraft will use nuclear energy

India is speeding up the development of its next-generation lunar probe Chandrayaan-2. Chandrayaan-1 was launched in 2008 and Chandrayaan-2 is scheduled to be launched in late 2017 or 2018. It will include a lunar orbiter, a lander and a rover. The orbiter will carry five scientific instruments, three of which are new, and the other two are an improved version of the previous generation.

Chandrayaan-2 was originally a joint project between Russia and India, but Russia withdrew from the plan after the failed launch of the Mars exploration aircraft. The lander was originally planned to be designed by Russia. After exiting, India decided to do it. Chandrayaan-2 will use the heat generated by radioactive materials to provide electrical energy to the equipment.
