Scientists at the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion at the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences have developed a nanoparticle instrument that can quickly detect human health - a diffuse spectrometer.
According to studies in Russia, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and the United States, the incidence of heart disease, cancer, and lung disease is significantly higher in cities with high concentrations of nanoparticles. Therefore, it is important to find harmful aerosol sources, study aerosol formation mechanisms and their effects on the human body. A detector developed by a Russian scientist can measure the concentration and size of aerosol particles from 3 to 200 nanometers in diameter. These ultra-fine nanoparticles can accumulate in the number of cubic centimeters per cubic centimeter of space. Although these nanoparticles do not diffuse away from the aerosol source, they can easily enter the blood and lungs. Nanoparticles are composed of gaseous impurities in the air. Due to different locations and different impurity components, in general, a large amount of toxic emissions that are invisible to the human eye come from highways or industrial facilities, such as near coal-fired companies. The detector measures the presence of specific nano-aerosol particles in the air in minutes. If it is confirmed that the above components are found, it is necessary to expand the scale of the research and determine the source of the pollution. The detector has been certified by the national measuring instrument and has been successfully used in research and commercial institutions in some parts of Russia.
