U.S. Public Safety Uniform Launches New Standard

Recently, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the International Safety Equipment Association (ISEA) have jointly introduced a new set of standards, the number of which is ANSI/ISEA207-2006, which covers the field of public safety in terms of design, specification, and use. The reflective vests of the personnel were detailed and the purpose was to better protect the personal safety of staff by improving the visibility of the vest.

Reflective vests conforming to the ANSI/ISEA 207-2006 standard serve mainly public security agencies such as police, firefighting, first aid, and emergency rescue. At the request of a large number of users, the Federal Highway Administration conducted a detailed review of the ANSI/ISEA 207-2006 standard and concluded that the vest manufactured according to this standard has excellent light reflectance and excellent visibility at night.

ANSI/ISEA207-2006 High Visibility Reflective Vest Standards and ANSI/ISEA 107-2004 High Visibility Standards for Safety Uniforms and Hats. The main difference is that under the 207-2006 standard, product design is more flexible and tactical protection capabilities are more powerful. In addition, the majority of uniform manufacturers also generally require the development of new standards that are different from the 107-2004 standard, so as to better serve the public security sector.

In addition to the general requirements on the size, color and material properties of reflective vests, the new standard also provides special regulations for users of fire protection, law enforcement and emergency rescue.
