Some people can drink a lot of alcohol, while others get drunk and some people cannot even drink milk. Why is that? In recent years, human geneticists have opened the mystery: the key lies in the different enzymes in the human body.

Modern human genetics studies have found that enzymes that promote the body's chemical reaction, enzymes, can be divided into different types. Studies have shown that acetaldehyde dehydrogenase is responsible for the difference in alcoholic beverages, while lactase-deficient people cannot drink milk.

Acetaldehyde dehydrogenase is an important catalyst in the metabolism of alcohol. After the alcohol is degraded into acetaldehyde in the body, it is acidified by aldehyde dehydrogenase and decomposed into carbon dioxide and water. Normal human aldehyde dehydrogenase should have two isozymes, some people only have one, so that the metabolic rate of alcohol is greatly reduced, this person is very sensitive to alcohol, prone to symptoms of alcoholism. This condition is caused by the recessive inheritance of chromosomes, and it is impossible for the amount of alcohol to increase by drinking from less to more. This kind of defect is mainly found in yellow races. Whites and blacks have not yet found similar situations. Domestically, about 36% of the aldehyde dehydrogenase-deficient Hans were found, 29.7% were from Mongolians, 40.1% were from Uighurs, 45.3% from Zhuang, and 24.9% from Koreans.

Decomposition of milk in the human body is mainly based on lactase, and human and other mammals have the highest lactase activity from birth to lactation. It gradually decreased after weaning and remained low during adulthood. However, as with other enzyme proteins, the structure and properties of lactase are also diverse, and the functional differences are quite obvious. It has been found that the adult human lactase activity in Europe is as high as that of infants. Among them, more than 90% of adults in Sweden are lactose-absorbers. They feel comfortable after drinking a lot of milk. Only about 7% of the people of China's Han nationality absorb lactose, and Mongolian, Uygur and Kazakh herdsmen and lactose-absorbers are 12%, 20%, and 24%, respectively. That is to say, most adults in our country, due to lack of lactase activity, have a tendency to show signs of intolerance to lactose after drinking milk, such as flatulence, nausea, bowel, diarrhea and so on.
