At the 2011 IBM Strategy Conference in Shandong Province, Zhao Xiaoning, General Manager of Shandong Region, disclosed the above news to reporters. The reporter learned that as early as last year, the Provincial Science and Technology Department and the IBM China Research Institute jointly established the Shandong Advanced Technology Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the “Research Institute”). The Provincial Science and Technology Department provided financial support for the Institute, and IBM provided technology for the Institute. For service support, IBM China Research Institute provides advanced licensing of knowledge assets.

As the main direction of cooperation between IBM and Shandong, the institute has determined to focus on food safety, rural informatization (ie, Rainbow Program), photovoltaic technology and other fields. Among the areas of concern for food safety, IBM is cooperating with Shandong in the development of the "Food Safety Risk Analysis and Intelligent Tracking Project." Zhao Xiaoning said that at present the project is still under development, and the specific details are not yet disclosed, but he told reporters that IBM's European company and Norway have similar projects for research and development.

In Norway, IBM is working with the local community to develop a more advanced food tracking solution that uses RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology, from farms, supply links to supermarket shelves, to track meat and poultry food throughout the process to ensure that food is kept to the maximum It helps to reduce food-borne diseases and stop food waste.
