According to "International Flight" reported on August 23, 2011, Ultra Electronics confirmed that the new fuel cell provided by the company can increase the Stalker UAS by 4 times compared to conventional fuels.
In a flight demonstration conducted in May, the Stalker drone was equipped with a fuel cell power module weighing 2.6 kilograms, generating 245 watts of energy. Lockheed Martin, maker of Stalker, hopes that UASs with hand-fired UAS fuel cells will eventually reach a 24-hour battery life.
The fuel cell utilizes propane and a solid oxide and has an energy density of 1200 watt hours/kilogram, which is four times that of a lithium battery.
