World Sun City Conference held for the first time in China

On September 16, the Fourth World Solar City Conference in 2010 was opened in Dezhou, Shandong Province, known as the "Sun City of China." This year's conference focused on the theme of "The Solar Energy Changes Life". The 2,981 experts, officials and entrepreneurs from 50 countries and regions exchanged ideas on the research and development of key solar energy technologies and industrial development strategies to discuss the future development of the world's solar energy industry.

Wan Gang, Minister of Science and Technology, said at the conference that “The Sun City Conference was held in Texas to bring opportunities for China’s solar industry to move towards the world. We will adhere to the energy development strategy based on domestic, diversified development and strengthened international cooperation. By 2015, China's solar photovoltaic installations should reach more than 2,500 megawatts, making China's new energy industry a leap-forward development."

According to the organizers of the conference, the three-day event will hold high-end forums, signing ceremonies for the new energy products and new products for energy-saving and emission reduction products in Shandong Province, project promotion, exhibitions, and other activities. Among them, the 2010 Shandong Energy-saving and Emissions Reduction New Technology and New Product Exhibition will highlight over 100 new technologies and new products in 9 areas including waste heat and pressure utilization, conservation and replacement of petroleum, new energy and renewable energy, circular economy and clean production. The total investment amounted to 78 billion yuan.

The World Solar City Conference is an international conference initiated by the World Sun City Association. The aim is to improve energy efficiency policies and build renewable energy cities through cooperation and exchanges between solar cities.
