Novelis and Henkel signed a long-term cooperation agreement to jointly develop automotive aluminum bonding technology

According to a comprehensive foreign news report, Novelis and Germany's Henkel announced that they have signed a long-term cooperation agreement to jointly develop bonding technology for automobiles using aluminum bodies.

The first product after the cooperation between the two parties is Bonderite M-NT8453. This pretreatment technology can make the aluminum parts of the automobile have stronger adhesion and make the coating adhere better to the aluminum. The pre-processing method is tested. A widely accepted standard in this field is Alcoa 951, introduced by Alcoa.

Bonderite M-NT8453 will be produced by Henkel Adhesive Technologies at Warren, Michigan, USA. Nobelis senior executive vice president Jack Clark said that the goal of both parties is to develop a next-generation solution that can be widely accepted by aluminum suppliers, and will allow suppliers to use the technology for free in the future.

The aluminum body model Jaguar XE compact sedan has been put into production in the UK and will be launched in Europe next month and will enter the US next year. In addition, the Cadillac CT6 will also use aluminum bodywork this year.
