Yesterday, the Ministry of Land and Resources announced the list of the top three candidates for bidding in each block of the shale gas exploration rights transfer in 2012. From the list, the traditional oil and gas companies are almost "all over the army", the first candidate companies in the 19 blocks are almost all enterprises that have never carried out oil and gas development, and even enterprises specializing in investment such as the National Development and Investment Corporation.

A company that has never had practical experience will have a mining right as Party A and will bring a rolling business to the oil service company as Party B. No matter how much shale gas production in China will eventually reach, the relevant oil service enterprises will get a “red envelope” of tens of billions of shale gas development.

Since shale gas is a lean ore, to obtain the same output as conventional natural gas, the number of production wells required is dozens or even hundreds of times that of conventional natural gas. In the early days of the development of shale gas in the United States, there were a large number of companies that had drilled wells but did not get economically productive yields. Eventually they closed down, and only a very small number survived and earned high profits. But the professional oil service company is the drought and flood protection, regardless of whether it can produce gas, "I will serve you, you have to pay."

The same is true in China. PetroChina and Sinopec, two traditional oil and gas development companies, still need to hire international oil service companies to develop shale gas. Those without any experience need to rely on oil service companies.

According to Zhang Dawei, director of the Mineral Resources Reserve Evaluation Center of the Ministry of Land and Resources, at the 2012 China Shale Gas Development Forum, if the target of 60 billion to 100 billion cubic meters per year of shale gas production is to be completed, at least 20,000 production should be produced. Well, and the 20,000 production wells must also have a certain amount of production, otherwise more wells need to be drilled.

Every time you hit a well, you have to invest a high price. The reporter learned from many parties that the cost of shale gas production wells in China will be higher than that of the United States. At present, the cost of single wells is about 80 million yuan. Based on 20,000 wells, the shale gas drilling and production market in the next 8 years will require more than one trillion yuan of investment. However, the actual number of wells to be drilled should be well over 20,000. And these investments will fall into the pockets of the oil service company, especially the international oil service company.

For the tools, technologies and personnel required for shale gas drilling, domestic enterprises generally can only reach a lower level, and the core key technologies are all mastered by the International Oil Service Company. Qian Xiang, vice president of global customers of Baker Hughes, told reporters that many companies involved in the second round of shale gas prospecting bidding have negotiated cooperation with the company and reached some cooperation intentions. Once they win the bid, they may enter. Substantive cooperation and communication.

In fact, many insiders of PetroChina and Sinopec also believe that shale gas development may be just a thankless job, and money may make the oil service company earn. It can also be seen from the list of successful bidders that the traditional Party A does not move, and the new Party A is born; and will they become the "machine" for making money for Party B?
