According to media reports, according to media reports, soot is not a waste of no use. Scientists have locked up a variety of waste utilization methods, such as storing energy, making transport trays, and rust prevention. Researchers have also found another use of soot – low-cost purification (filtration) of arsenic in water. This is a bit ironic because tobacco smoke contains dangerous doses of arsenic.
Under the leadership of Li Jiaxing of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, scientists applied soot to aluminum oxide. Due to the porous consistency of ash, they predict that it is expected to be a highly effective filter medium – and far superior to the cheap materials that have been tried before (such as banana peel).
Next, they went to Inner Mongolia for testing - because the local surface water is contaminated by naturally occurring arsenic. It was found that this soot can remove 96% of arsenic, which is more powerful than the minimum requirements of WHO.
Among them, the most important thing is that this kind of filter material will not have a performance degradation even if it is reused up to 6 times.
