China's Natural Gas Industry in the First Half of the Year

In June 2012, the growth rate of domestic natural gas production decreased from the previous month, and the growth rate was lower than that of the same period of last year, and the accumulative output growth rate also decreased compared with the same period of last year. The output data showed that the national natural gas output in June 2012 was 8.177 billion cubic meters, an increase of 2.9% year-on-year, and the growth rate was down 6.5 percentage points year-on-year. From January to June, the cumulative production of natural gas was 53.625 billion cubic meters, an increase of 6.3% year-on-year, and the growth rate was down by 1 percentage point year-on-year.

Judging from the distribution of natural gas production, the highest cumulative output in the year ended in June was in Shaanxi Province. The data showed that the province produced 15.38 billion cubic meters of natural gas in June, an increase of 11.2% year-on-year; at the end of June, the cumulative natural gas production in Xinjiang topped the national level. Second, it reached 12.564 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 9.5%; Sichuan's cumulative natural gas production ranked third, reaching 11.951 billion cubic meters, up 1% year-on-year; Guangdong's natural gas production ranked fourth, with a cumulative output of 4.4 billion cubic meters, growth rate Increased by -1.8% over the same period of last year; natural gas production in Qinghai ranked fifth; cumulative natural gas production was 3.519 billion cubic meters, up 7.1% year-on-year; Heilongjiang natural gas production ranked sixth, and cumulative natural gas production was 1.758 billion cubic meters, up 4.9% over the same period of last year. As of the end of June this year, the fastest increase in cumulative natural gas production this year was in Gansu, where the cumulative growth rate of natural gas reached 60.3%, and the cumulative growth of natural gas production in Ningxia ranked second, reaching 35.4%.

From a single month in June, the highest natural gas production in the month was in Shaanxi Province. The data showed that the province produced 2.204 billion cubic meters of natural gas in June, a year-on-year growth rate of 12.6%; Sichuan’s natural gas production ranked second in the month, reaching 1.98 billion. Cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%; in June, Xinjiang’s natural gas production was the third highest in the country, reaching 1.86 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%; the single-month natural gas production ranked fourth in Guangdong, with a production of 804 million cubic meters. The year-on-year increase was 2.4%; natural gas output ranked fifth in Qinghai, and the monthly output of natural gas was 439 million cubic meters, an increase of -15.6% year-on-year.

From the import perspective, from January to June, China imported about 19.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas, an increase of 44.6%. At the same time, the apparent consumption of natural gas in China in the first half of the year reached 72.1 billion cubic meters, an increase of 15.9%, of which 19.7% in the first quarter and 11.9% in the second quarter.
